Georgia Pacific Harmon is seeking a (Non CDL) 2nd Shift Yard Jockey/Yard Switcher for the South Plainfield, NJ facility. This role supports the sustainability efforts of Georgia-Pacific by facilitating the movement of incoming and outgoing product through the facility. We are looking for candidates with a strong commitment to safety standards and knowledge of forklift operations. The Yard Switcher role is a temp to hire position, with opportunity for hire with Georgia Pacific. Yard Jockeys are regularly exposed to sparks, fumes, noise, vibration, confined spaces, moving equipment/machinery and outdoor weather, and work in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment. A Day in the Life Typically Includes:
- Switch trailers in shipping and receiving yards
- Move trailers in yard to maximize space and maintain organization of the yard
- Safely operate (including backing) tractor trailers in confine spaces
- Assist team members as needed
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Perform housekeeping duties in respective work areas (indoor/outdoor)
Job Requirements
What do you need? Basic Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Must have 1-year previous experience operating tractor trailers
- Must have a current forklift license or be able to attain one within 6 months
- Must be willing to work any shift (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) as well as weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Must be willing and able to wear the necessary Personal Protection equipment (PPE) (i.e. hard hats, safety glasses, face shield, chemical suit, respirator, ear plugs, hearing protection, steel-toe boots or safety shoes and other PPE required by specific jobs) with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs. routinely with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be willing and able to work in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environment with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be willing and able to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods (lifting, walking, climbing, and stooping) with or without reasonable accommodation
- Willing and able to work in an environment with regular exposure to sparks, fumes, noise, vibration, confined spaces, moving equipment/machinery and outdoor weather with or without reasonable accommodation
- Must be willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations
- Must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement as a condition of employment
