Georgia-Pacific Wood and Fiber Supply (W&FS), LLC is key to ensuring that GP's 80+ mills maintain a constant flow of logs, wood fiber, and chips. W&FS sources its wood from private lands owned by industrial, institutional, or individual landowners.
The Wood and Fiber Supply team is seeking a Chip Quality Lab Tech for the Monticello Pulp & Paper Mill in Cedar Springs, GA. The Chip Quality Lab Tech will perform a variety of quality and moisture content analysis ranging from chip product sampling and testing to instrument cleaning & calibration. Though the base/home location is Cedars Springs Mill, the Chip Quality Lab Tech is required to travel to and from Georgia-Pacific’s Brookhaven Chip Mill in Brookhaven, MS – mileage between mills is reimbursable.
A Day in The Life Typically Includes:
- Maintaining a high level of safety awareness
- Collecting data on Chip and Bark Samples
- Entering & maintaining the Rader data systems
- Delivering chip samples to Brookhaven, MS
- Maintaining the Rader Classifier by routine cleanings and maintenance
- Identifying quality non-conformance and notifying the Chip Quality Manager
Job Requirements
What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- One (1) year of experience in a quality and/or manufacturing setting
- Valid Driver’s License for local travel
- Vehicle capable of transferring 10-15 chip samples at 1 time – samples weigh approximately 8-10 pounds each
What Will Put You Ahead?
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in mill setting
- Experience in wood products industries
- Experience with process improvement
- Experience testing for quality.
