Encadria Staffing Solutions is seeking Material Handler - Forklift Operators for work at our Georgia Pacific Memphis, TN location
The Material Handler – Forklift Operator is responsible for safely and efficiently preparing, loading, and securing roll shipments into trucks, containers, and railcars. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to loading patterns and securement requirements, and the ability to identify and correct damaged rolls. The technician will support shipping documentation, inventory management, and yard movement activities to ensure accurate, timely, and incident-free shipments.
Key Responsibilities
Shipment Loading & Securement
- Load and secure roll product into trucks, containers, and railcars according to established patterns, diagrams, and securement standards.
- Ensure all shipments meet quality, safety, and customer requirements.
- Inspect loading equipment, dunnage, and securement materials prior to use.
- Identify, document, and repair damaged rolls before shipment.
Job Requirements
Equipment Operation & Care
- Operate mobile equipment (forklifts, clamp trucks) safely and in accordance with mill policies.
- Demonstrate understanding of equipment operation principles and functions.
- Recognize actions or conditions that increase equipment repair costs.
- Perform basic equipment care tasks, including battery changing/charging when required.
Inspection & Documentation
- Conduct pre-inspection of trucks, containers, and railcars to ensure suitability for loading.
- Complete all required documentation for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Accurately record load details, inventory counts, and shipment confirmations.
- Maintain accurate yard management through proper tagging, staging, and movement of rolls.
Quality & Product Stewardship
- Identify damaged or nonconforming product and complete proper repair procedures.
- Maintain high housekeeping standards in loading areas, docks, and shipping lanes.
- Ensure product is handled with care to prevent damage or contamination.
Systems & Software
- Work within established shipping systems (Infor M3, PTMS, YMS or site-specific tools) to complete orders, print paperwork, and record shipment activity.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all safety rules, procedures, and PPE requirements.
- Identify, report, and mitigate hazards associated with preparing and loading roll shipments.
- Participate in safety audits, daily huddles, and loading-area risk assessments.
Qualifications
- Experience in material handling, warehouse, or shipping environment preferred.
- Ability to operate mobile equipment (clamp truck, forklift); certification preferred but can be provided.
- Able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn shipping systems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written loading standards.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
