Encadria Staffing Solutions is hiring a Scaler for Georgia Pacific in Hosford, FL.

This position will be responsible for inspecting loads of logs and ensuring the wood quality meets our specifications. The position will frequently work and communicate with truck drivers, loggers, contract scalers, and other GP personnel to ensure the scaling functions are accomplished in a safe and compliant manner.

The work schedule will vary but normal hours will be 7AM to 3 PM. The work environment will include inside and outside conditions. Employees in this role will be expected to drive process improvement, show a commitment to safety and compliance, and maintain the quality standards that make GP a top producer of wood and paper products.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspection of incoming wood trucks to ensure meeting quality specifications
• Documentation of load inspections through audits and electronic reporting.
• Truck driver compliance with all safety rules and procedures.
• Daily demonstration of GP’s safety and compliance culture.
• Collaboration with other team members to ensure accurate data collection and manage truck flows.
• Partnership with logging contractors and foresters to quickly correct any quality issues.
• Assistance with GP-IT personnel to troubleshoot scaling software and hardware issues.
• Log counts/ physical inventories
• Mill point person
• Assisting contractors/ visitors as they enter & leave the site
• Administrative responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
• Willingness to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations.
• Ability to work in harsh temperatures and noisy mill environment
• Ability to perform repetitive and physically demanding tasks for extended periods. (lifting, walking, climbing, and stooping).
• Valid Florida Driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with wood quality control in forestry operations.
• Familiarity with wood products.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Identification of various types of wood species
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to handle confrontational situations with respect and humility
• Attention to detail, and willing to drive continuous improvement.

Pay: $16/hr
